Lucknow today experienced sudden change of weather followed by dust storms and strong winds. The short sharp showers in the city lowered the temperature. With this, the entire city was enveloped in the darkness at around 4 pm.
Many parts of the Southwest UP and central UP, including Lucknow, were lashed by a severe dust storm followed by thundershowers on Tuesday afternoon. Dark clouds and thick layer of dust turned sky black, giving impression of night during the day and taking people by surprise.
In Lucknow, morning was sunny but sky turned cloudy towards afternoon and a squall hit the city at around 4 pm followed by dust storm and thundershowers. Winds measuring upto 50 km lashed the city uprooting trees and hoardings at many places. Caught unaware, people on the roads ran for shelter. Many abandoned their two vehicles and those on four wheelers parked in the middle of the road, leading to jams. Those who dared to drive switched on headlights. “I have never seen such a storm in my like,” said Ashwin Singh, a student caught in storm, while on his way back to school.
“Many parts of Uttar Pradesh will witness cloudy weather or rain, especially eastern Uttar Pradesh”, the Met office said.
